Episode 12
Seeing the Waste in Design
Some of the biggest reductions in waste can take place in areas filled only by knowledge workers

This video is part 1 of 2 of the set:  Lean Product and Process Development

Video Length:
26 min

Since 80 - 90% of the costs of a product or service are administrative costs, it stands to reason that there are plenty of opportunities to reduce waste on the other side of the wall, especially in the areas of product and process design.  Use lean tools to see the waste – go to the gemba and watch the design process, value stream map the development process and observe the vast amounts of waste and hand-offs, and deploy hoshin kanri to make a plan to reduce the waste in product and process development.
